End Public School

And Florence High School Goes Just A Little Farther Down the Drain

This isn’t the first time Florence High School has made national headlines. A couple of years ago, administrators allowed a boy to use the girls’ bathrooms.

In the current fiasco, a teacher, for some reason that I don’t understand, is getting a $50,000 settlement because Christianity was a little too much in his face, I guess. I don’t know why everyone else who might have felt a little offended doesn’t get $50 large.

Paul Mason an attorney on the case said, “Government and public schools need to remain neutral on questions of religion so that you and I are not forced to [be exposed to] someone else’s personal religious beliefs.”

But Jesus said there’s no such thing as neutrality (Matthew 12:30). Academic subjects can’t be done in a neutral manner. There is no such thing as a brute fact. The concept of truth is only possible when you presuppose the Trinitarian God of the Bible.

So public school can pretend to be neutral, but it’s just not possible. They’re teaching the kids religion and philosophy with every subject. It just isn’t Christianity.

Christians need to get their kids out of public school.

DUI Checkpoints Are Unbiblical

DUI Checkpoints are sinful, unbiblical, immoral, gross violations of biblical law for several reasons.

1. Checkpoints require police officers to lie. Of course, lying is a sin, and “just following orders” or “to get drunks off the road” are not valid excuses.

How are police lying at a checkpoint? In normal circumstances, they can’t pull a car over without suspecting the driver of a crime (which is also an unbiblical concept). But at a checkpoint, they pull everyone over, and every driver has to give evidence of their innocence before being allowed to leave.

By pulling a car over, they are essentially accusing the driver of having committed a crime. They don’t have evidence against every driver, so they are lying about each and every driver that passes through their checkpoint.

2. Government agents don’t have rights beyond anyone else to forcibly stop and question people. There is no special class of people under God’s law. If you personally can’t set up a roadblock, force everyone to pull over and talk to you, and chase down and arrest those who disobey your order to pull over, neither can the government.

The Fourth Amendment to the Constitition is biblical and supported by Deuteronomy 24:10-11. Biblically, you can’t force people to submit to a search or questioning without a court order. To force everyone to pull over and talk to the government is an egregious violation of our God-given rights.

I’ve talked to people who have heard all of this and it falls on deaf ears. They respond by saying that getting drunks off the road is so important that all of the Bible verses and logic in the world don’t matter. That is idolatry. To say that we can reject God’s law in favor of our own safety, or that we’re so smart we can figure out a better way is to reject the lordship of Jesus Christ.

God’s law is best. Christians above all others must be committed to doing things according to God’s law.

So, now, with this knowledge, what should churches do with cops who have participated in a checkpoint, (or cops in general)? I think for sure, they should be placed under church discipline until they find a more God-honoring vocation. We should help them however we can, but there definitely needs to be some sort of exit strategy and evidence of repentance.

End Public School

Exodus From Public School Begins

Right now, the exodus from public school has begun. It may be just
a slow trickle, but it will grow. Not because people all of a
sudden have become convinced that public school is a Marxist
indoctrination camp, but because it won’t be able to compete.

It costs a lot of money for public school. They waste a ton of
money, just like any agency that has little accountability while
spending other people’s money. Alternatives enabled by the
internet are going to blow public school out of the water based on
price and quality of education.

Before I had kids I never really thought much about this topic. I
went to public school, and I assumed that was the best choice.
When they changed it so that kindergarten was going to last all
day, I started looking into homeschooling.

We completed homeschooling my oldest son through kindergarten last year, and we’re planning for 1st grade. I think he is much better
off for the one on one attention he receives. We covered all the
topics kindergarteners are supposed to cover and more in only 2-3
hours per day.

My wholehearted recommendation is that you homeschool your kids. Never mind all the biblical issues that would demand parents
homeschool their kids. It is just plain old better than public
school.

Nice Bad Cops

These cops kicked abortion protesters out of the Women Betrayed rally, contradicting their own policy.
Christians keep telling me that most cops are good, and it’s just a few bad apples that give them all a bad name. Some have even numbered it as high as 99%.
But these two cops are blindly obeying their orders. They check their conscience at the door, and obey wicked orders. Even though they were nice about it, they’re still bad cops!
Where are the 99% of good cops to stand up to these two? Wouldn’t you have to concede that these two probably bring the percentage of good cops in that precinct down a few percent?

Poke, Poke

Ray Comfort posted on Facebook, saying it’s a good idea to meekly obey police, because they have a gun. I certainly agree that if you argue or assert your rights or defy a petty tyrant, you may not like the consequences.

There were a lot of people who responded to his post; some said good things and some said bad. I went through and commented on several people’s comments, poking them with a stick, hoping to provoke a conversation.

First of all, I don’t like Facebook for conversation. With hundreds of comments on Comfort’s post, there’s no way for me to find out whether anyone responded to me unless I just go through and search. Maybe there’s a way and I just don’t know it.

Unconstitutional Policing

The video below is an example of what I’ve been talking about vis a vis police being unconstitutional and there being no good cops. The cop in the video would almost certainly be considered a good cop by most upstanding Americans.

But he goes on a spree of ruining people’s day, and collecting fines for victimless and arbitrary crimes. Biblically, fines don’t go to the state. They go to the party that was harmed by the crime. Of course, no one was harmed in any of these instances.

Every time something bad happens, legislators are pressured to pass a new law. That is idolatry, and has made this an unfree country. If it was up to me, there would be teaching from the pulpit that this cop’s behavior is sinful, and Christians should not participate in that profession. Any member of a church who does such a thing would be under church discipline.

Good Cops Don’t Remain Cops for Long

Good cops can’t blindly follow orders to enforce wicked laws. Most of the laws in this nation at this point are wicked laws. When a cop acts righteously, he won’t remain a cop for long, because to be a cop, you must act unrighteously.

Here’s an example of a good cop in this video. You can see how the wicked cops responded. They were embarrassed. They arrested him and fired him.

So much for good cops. How many times has a good cop stepped up since Chet Gallagher did? I seriously doubt there’s more than 10, and sadly I’d be willing to bet that most of them weren’t Christians. Many of the remaining wicked cops think they’re Christians. They must start acting righteously, which will lead to their immediate firing or face church discipline for shirking their duty to stand for God’s law.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how Christians can’t expect the culture to change without first living consistently with what we say, and with what the Bible teaches.

How can we begrudge anyone a government subsidized Obamacare plan while we receive government money for our kids’ schooling, Social Security, etc.? If we all rejected the old socialistic programs we benefit from, maybe the Lord would see fit to end Obamacare.

There’s a free summer lunch program at the public high school. I know people who take their kids there. I wouldn’t say they’re rich, but they’re upper middle class or middle class, and they are conservative Republican types. Why do they accept a government handout? I don’t get it.

Bojidar’s quote I posted ‎was a good example. Christians don’t stand up to a tyrannical pastor. How in the world are they going to stand up to a tyrannical magistrate who has much more power over us?

One aspect of God’s judgment on this country seems to be that there are few manly Christian men. They don’t go out to do evangelism. They don’t do anything of consequence. They just warm pews, and suffer through a feminine sermon on marriage advice. I pray that I would be a manly, Godly man.

In fact, I came up with a corny rhyme, but it’s just to sad to use much: “There are no men to resist like there were in ’76.”
