Who determines what is murder and what isn’t? Is it the state or is it Scripture? Christians would have to say Scripture. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the government has defined murder in such a way that their agents (police) can get away with murder.

I want to keep a list of people who have been murdered by police by the Scriptural standard. If you want to learn more about that standard, check out this excellent article.  This isn’t an exhaustive list, but I believe that everyone on this list is clearly a victim of police murder.

Keep in mind that as you think about what the proper response of police might be in a dangerous situation that Jesus said, “No one has greater love than this, than to lay down his life for a friend” (John 15:13). Jesus contradicts their famous saying, “Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.” Are police willing to lay down their life, or do they only worry about themselves?
