Defund The Police?

I’m loving the demands to defund the police. That is exactly what I’ve been saying for a long time. I’m somewhat alarmed that many of my conservative friends are mocking the idea. Of course, it’s being advocated by liberals and Democrats, so a certain percentage of conservatives will oppose the idea in a knee-jerk fashion just because of who is proposing it.

The problem is that when they oppose defunding police, they are defending a socialist-funded, government-run service that has protected the business of abortion for almost 50 years. When you defend a socialist-funded government program, what you’re saying is that you want to continue to force people to pay for this service, because you can’t imagine any other way of receiving police services. You are committing the sin of covetousness.

Liberals have their socialist programs, and some don’t even mind being called socialists. Conservatives have their socialist programs and they don’t like being called socialists, but that is certainly what they are.

When liberals want to defund a socialist program, that is a win for conservaitves. When liberals want to defund the enforcement arm of a socialist state, you are scoring a huge victory. Socialism doesn’t work without police (tax collectors/thugs with guns). All conservatives should join with them in working to end socialist-funded government policing, and pointing out that government police provide inferior service, because it is funded by government by force, without free market competition.

If government police ceased to exist would chaos rule the streets as conservatives seem to believe? It sounds like a stupid question to me. Have you given up your guns? If an intruder came into your house, would you feel better that the police will arrive in 10 minutes (if you’re lucky) or that you have a gun by your bed? Are you going to be consistent with your belief in the 2nd Amendment, or just give up your guns and let the government take care of you? Police are the chaos, not the solution to the chaos. For Pete’s sake, they drive around making sure you have the right sticker on your car. You are being ripped off by the police. Police and government are the criminals, not the solutions to crime.

There are biblical and free market replacements for police. I’m not advocating that criminals go unpunished. America had no police for many decades after its founding. Defunding police is consistent with the founding principles. Liberals happened upon this truth for different reasons, and conservatives would be stupid to oppose them.

Socialists Are the Greedy Ones

This whole video is worth watching, of course. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything bad by John Stossel. However I’m just going to comment on what Hugo Chavez does at the 2:00 to 2:08 mark. He says, “Expropriate it!”, referring to the private business they were looking at.

It struck me what a greedy dirtbag he must be. He wants something, so he just takes it by threat of force. That is what all unrighteous government is based on, and the bigger, more socialist the government is, the more blatant they are about it.

Marx and the socialists on the street like to say that capitalists are the greedy ones, and anyone can certainly commit the sin of being greedy. However, capitalism doesn’t require greed. Socialism is built on, and requires greed and covetousness.

Capitalists get rich (in most cases) by serving people. In whatever business you’re in, you make a profit by serving people. Some businesses are more suited to serving a greater number of people than others. Sports and entertainment people can serve a greater number of people with their work hours than a guy who mows lawns, for example. A guy who figures out a way to mow lawns more efficiently and more cheaply than his competition, will please more people than a guy who doesn’t, and will make more money. People being motivated to make more money honestly, aren’t greedy.

Socialists are greedy. They covet free stuff either for themselves or for others, and they may even be willing to personally, voluntarily sacrifice, but as socialists, they ultimately want to force other people to pay as well.

Let’s take a local issue as an example. Socialists want more money for the local public school system. The school district is more than willing to accept their donations, and they may very well donate. But a socialist isn’t happy until everyone is forced to give more, whether they believe the school system is a worthy cause or not. Socialists like that are the greedy ones, who are committing the sins of covetousness and greediness.

Hugo Chavez demonstrates that sinfulness perfectly in those few seconds of this video.

Slippery Slope to Socialism

I spoke with a couple people demonstrating for universal healthcare on 9th and Royal Gorge today. I asked them what exactly they’re wanting, and they wouldn’t really commit to anything specific, saying there are several different proposals being discussed in the state legislature.

I pointed out that whatever they’re advocating, if it’s based on taxation, and forcing people to pay, they’re committing the sin of covetousness, and they’re in favor of government theft.

The guy said we already fund fire services, public schools, etc by taxation. I told him we homeschool, and don’t receive a dime from the government, yet I’m forced to pay for the education of other people’s children under threat of confiscation of my property. We learn in kindergarten that it’s wrong to force people to participate in something they don’t want to do.

But he is absolutely correct in pointing out that if I were to take the position that it is just fine to fund public school, fire departments, and police services by socialism, then it is perfectly fine to fund everyone’s healthcare by socialism. Any line that you want to draw between public school and public healthcare is completely arbitrary. There is no logical reason why one would be acceptable, and the other unacceptable.

That is why unless we take a stand against all socialism, we will lose this debate. Our society will be based on covetousness, unless we start applying Scripture to the public discourse, and appeal to God’s law written on people’s hearts–even socialists. It is equally wrong for conservatives and Christians to covet taxpayer money for public school, police, fire services or border walls, as it is for liberals to covet money for healthcare.

Conservatives Have No Idea What Socialism Is

I joined a new conservative Facebook group that has tons of action. It’s named “The Deplorables”. I got kicked out of a big tea party group several months ago. I joined several others, but there are rarely enough people commenting there for some reason, even though some of them have thousands of members. But Deplorables is where the action is now.

A guy posted that social security is socialist, and retirees who want to fight socialism ought to burn their checks. I absolutely agree, and I’m planning for retirement hoping to do just that. I understand that some people aren’t financially able to do that, but I always thought that was the conservative position–that socialism should be rejected.

Apparently I was wrong, because a shocking number of the people there are defending social security. They say things like we paid into it, so it’s not socialist. It’s shocking.

If conservatives are those who believe that social security is great, then conservatism has been defeated, and the USSR won the cold war. Here’s a sample of the conversation I had in the Deplorables group.

Good Conversation

I wasn’t planning on posting this, but these conversations have had a habit of being deleted lately, so I decided to start saving them. This one got deleted, so you can read it below.

I have seen so many shocking comments in conversations on this topic. This Patty Armfield Witkowsky woman is someone I thought was a Christian (I could be wrong about that), but you can see she has no concept of the golden rule, what the Bible says about how to educate children, the antichrist nature of our government and public school (Matt. 12:30) or seeing covetousness as a sin. And I don’t really blame her. You could sit through thousands of hours of sermons in the typical church and never hear anything about these topics. No wonder our country is going down the tubes when we have ignorant Christians and ignorant pastors. This woman’s soul is at stake, and her pastor is heinously negligent.

In another conversation a woman said, “I will never understand the grouchy people who don’t understand this concept!” The concept being that we should invest in our children’s future by voting for this socialist ballot initiative. I’m no psychologist, but I would say the inability to show a little empathy is a sign of some sort of disorder. She really can’t understand why someone might disagree with her and not care to be threatened and forced to pay for a cause they don’t believe in? It seems pretty simple to me.

And in some deep recess of Patty’s mind the thought sprung that people refraining from eating dinner out  is going to help business. She must have been publicly educated.

Wicked Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders is a bigot who votes against people on the basis of their religious beliefs.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=share&v=LQowhuEcGSk

He did to the guy exactly what he’s accusing the guy of. That is the kind of absurdity and hypocrisy that rejecting Christ leads to. Bernie’s brand of socialism is wicked because it is based on government theft, and appeals to the covetousness of the people.

I try not to spend too much time on federal politics, but I will take a moment to expose stupidity at any level.

The Religion More Violent Than Islam

Here Mark Zuckerberg touts his religion saying that we ought to have universal basic income in this country. People can tout their religion all day. The problem is that in Zuckerberg’s religion they are willing to kill those who don’t bow down and participate.

He’s perfectly free to give away his money to whomever he wants. But he doesn’t want to do that. He wants the government to do it for him. Not only that, but he wants to use the force of the state to make everyone participate in his scheme whether they want to or not.

No Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, JW, Mormon or Muslim has ever held a gun to my head or issued a credible threat of further violence if I don’t participate in their religion. However, every day I face those threats from one religion: statism. One of the fundamental blind-faith beliefs of the statist religion is that an immoral act can become a moral act if performed by the government. If this act passes through the magical religious rituals of getting the right people to vote on it or sign off on it, an immoral act becomes a moral act.

I’m sick of it. Zuckerberg can do what he wants with his money. He has a zillion dollars, but it’s not enough. He covets more money. He wants the money of others to enact this scheme, to the point that those who refuse will be jailed and murdered if they resist. I think he’s a reprehensible person, and his religion is the most evil on earth.

Ann Coulter’s Marxist Line of Thought

Ann Coulter said, “You want a higher minimum wage? Turn off the spigot of low-wage workers pouring into the U.S. and it will rise on its own through the iron law of supply and demand.”

That quote is self-contradictory. If Ann is so concerned about obeying the iron law of supply and demand, why does she still want government interference in the free market? Who is going to turn off the spigot of low-wage workers? Government, of course (cops to be exact). She’s fine with them interfering with the market in that way, but doesn’t want them interfering with the market to raise the minimum wage.

We need a higher level of thinking among conservatives. We need pastors to step up and teach what the Bible teaches on these things. The law of God is a firm foundation for capitalism.

Don’t pretend to be a constitution-loving, free-market, small-government conservative if you support government harassment of non-criminal individuals crossing the border. You’re a Marxist who wants government control of the labor market. You’re just as bad as Bernie Sanders. With conservatives like Ann, who needs liberals?

You have to listen to this short podcast on this topic for a refreshing dose of liberty and capitalism based on Scripture.

The Soviet Union Won the Cold War

The Daily Record has an article saying that Canon City elementary and middle schools will be offering free breakfast to every student. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no such thing as a free breakfast.

This is a another way for  our benevolent government to reinforce the lesson that socialism is the answer, and that big government will provide for you. Public schools have been a magnificent success for Marxists in indoctrinating the vast majority of Americans into being good socialists. Republicans are socialists, and even the vast majority of Christians are socialists in spite of the Bible teaching small government and private charity.

The black square is my hidden identity.

I commented on the Daily Record’s facebook post of this article, and you can see the results. I rarely get replies to my comments on Daily Record posts, but in this case I got two, and another saying I should crawl back in my hole, which was deleted. All but one other comment was favorable to the “free” breakfast scheme, in a county that has voted Republican in every election since the dawn of time.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why food stamps are inadequate; welfare is inadequate; and the breakfast that schools already serve is inadequate. I guess we just need to keep government growing.

Clearly, the vast majority of Americans are socialists, taking part in many socialist schemes (Social Security, Medicare, police, roads, libraries, fire services), the most pervasive and evil of which is public school. The USSR handed us our hats in the cold war while giving us the illusion that we won.

Pastors need to speak up about these rubber-meets-the-road topics, but ask your pastor about educating people on what the Bible says about capitalism and free markets, and he’ll probably tell you

  1. It doesn’t say anything.
  2. We should focus on the gospel–not politics.
  3. We shouldn’t rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic.
  4. He is a socialist.

This country may be in the same predicament as the Titanic after striking the iceberg, but that would only be because pastors haven’t been doing their job.
