Homeschooling Jihadists

The title is taken from this article where Phil Johnson is quoted as calling those who think homeschooling is the only proper way to educate Christian kids, “homeschooling jihadists.” After my meager, but successful experience of homeschooling one kid through kindergarten, I meet the definition of a homeschooling jihadist.

The article, by Bojidar Marinov is well-worth reading. But in the comments is some great info as well.

Mr. Marinov says, “Today, in the US, after the first generation sacrificed and paved the way for us, there are all kinds of support for homeschoolers, and all kinds of data and statistics that only homeschooling – and I will emphasize for those that disagree, as a testimony against them, ONLY HOMESCHOOLING – produces children that are spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually healthy because there is no other environment that the Bible ordains for children but the family. (Children that have no family are called orphans; those that kick their children out of the house for the whole day to go to a place that is not their house have orphanized their children.) There is no excuse.”

Resist These Tyrants

Gavin is awesome! He has the guts to go and confront these losers who think they can stop Americans from flying a flag on their own vehicle in a public parking lot. They’re insane and on a power trip.

There needs to be a swift divorce between schools and state. The government has no business robbing property owners to support these Marxist indoctrination centers. I get mugged every April (property tax month in Colorado) to support schools that I don’t send my kids to.

Don’t Take the Government Cheese

I’ve heard people say that so many Americans are armed that we could never be invaded by a foreign power. I always assumed that was true, but I’m rethinking that.

Don't take the cheese!
Don’t take the cheese!

I was witnessing at the bus station, and the lady I was speaking with said she was a Christian. I was walking away from her, and she shouts to the guy across the street asking if he could give her a bus pass.

Rumor has it, that 60% of Fremont County residents receive food stamps. I don’t know if that’s true or how to verify it.

It’s true that a lot of people have guns, but it seems like whoever wanted to take over could probably buy people off pretty easy. The state this country is in is pretty sad. I think people can be bought off pretty cheap. Then, after they’re bought off, all the guns would be turned on the good guys.

And it doesn’t have to be a foreign power. Hitler took over when inflation was out of control and people were hungry and without work. All he had to do to take over was give them jobs and food, so this is not without precedent.

Pastors need to start teaching that government handouts are evil. Not only because we have so much pride that we can’t take a handout. Though I wish that were true. Government handouts are evil, because:

1. The government gets their money by stealing it from people.
2. It is easy to become dependent on government. We’re supposed to be dependent on God.
3. Christians are supposed to be hard working (look up Protestant work ethic). We work for the Lord and to serve others (the greatest commandments). We work hard and the Lord provides.

How is it that we’ve got to the point where so many Christians are on food stamps, social security, medicare, free summer lunches and school lunches and public school? Government cheese comes with a trap. If Christians can’t live obediently to the Bible, who will?

Foundation of Public School

Education is a religious undertaking. There is no such thing as a brute fact; every fact presupposes a worldview. Public school presupposes a religion. It just isn’t Christianity.

“The  schools must fashion the person, and fashion him in such a way, that he simply cannot will otherwise than what you wish him to will.” Johann Fichte

This is Insane

Kids can be irrational. My 3 year-old son said that when he grows up, he wants to be a truck. If they’re tired, they say things that are truly crazy while sobbing.

When they sob uncontrollably, you do what you can to calm them down and put them to bed. To me, it sounds like this kid is tired or frustrated. I seriously doubt that the best way to calm him down is have a man with a gun handcuff him.

Of course the real problem isn’t that a cop handcuffed someone else’s 8 year old for acting like an 8 year old. The problem is that the 8 year old is in a government school when his parents should be educating him at home as the Bible commands. The problem is that we’ve all been stolen from via taxes to support this insane, ridiculous system. The problem is public school. There should be no such thing as forced taxation and government education.

I hope these parents have learned their lesson, but I doubt it. They’ll sue the school district, win some money, and send their kid back to that same school. No one can take care of your kids and teach your kids like you can. That’s a parent’s job.

And Florence High School Goes Just A Little Farther Down the Drain

This isn’t the first time Florence High School has made national headlines. A couple of years ago, administrators allowed a boy to use the girls’ bathrooms.

In the current fiasco, a teacher, for some reason that I don’t understand, is getting a $50,000 settlement because Christianity was a little too much in his face, I guess. I don’t know why everyone else who might have felt a little offended doesn’t get $50 large.

Paul Mason an attorney on the case said, “Government and public schools need to remain neutral on questions of religion so that you and I are not forced to [be exposed to] someone else’s personal religious beliefs.”

But Jesus said there’s no such thing as neutrality (Matthew 12:30). Academic subjects can’t be done in a neutral manner. There is no such thing as a brute fact. The concept of truth is only possible when you presuppose the Trinitarian God of the Bible.

So public school can pretend to be neutral, but it’s just not possible. They’re teaching the kids religion and philosophy with every subject. It just isn’t Christianity.

Christians need to get their kids out of public school.

Exodus From Public School Begins

Right now, the exodus from public school has begun. It may be just
a slow trickle, but it will grow. Not because people all of a
sudden have become convinced that public school is a Marxist
indoctrination camp, but because it won’t be able to compete.

It costs a lot of money for public school. They waste a ton of
money, just like any agency that has little accountability while
spending other people’s money. Alternatives enabled by the
internet are going to blow public school out of the water based on
price and quality of education.

Before I had kids I never really thought much about this topic. I
went to public school, and I assumed that was the best choice.
When they changed it so that kindergarten was going to last all
day, I started looking into homeschooling.

We completed homeschooling my oldest son through kindergarten last year, and we’re planning for 1st grade. I think he is much better
off for the one on one attention he receives. We covered all the
topics kindergarteners are supposed to cover and more in only 2-3
hours per day.

My wholehearted recommendation is that you homeschool your kids. Never mind all the biblical issues that would demand parents
homeschool their kids. It is just plain old better than public
school.
